Irene and I spotted a black recumbent in the Trinity tunnel. Was with a group of standard bikes.

Looked like a HPV Speedmachine with aerobars. Or maybe a Catrike Musashi - (although there are only about ten of them in Europe I hear).

We were on the new Helios demo. Did a run down to Cramond and then back up the Fishwives Causeway. Loads of bikes out. Did the new Chancelot Path...

Nelly at 6.47 gliding down Ashley Terrace? You coincided with my traditional toothbrushing wander to the front window to check the weather.

3 Helioses with stokers all within 50 metres of PY this morning (one was me!)

    @uberuce

Good spot, especially with fully engaged buff - and the weather was a darned sight better at 6.47 than it is now !!

Glad you got me 'gliding down' as going uphill is a more sweaty, grunty affair :-)

    "3 Helioses"

    Heliosi? Helii ;-)

(Google's not much help, suggesting that Helios is the plural of Helio. Someone with mastery of the latin can probably give us the correct ending?)

    Why would Latin help?

    How about Heliosity?

To form the plural of Greek nouns you need to know the gender of the word and change the singular suffix accordingly. Hence -ος becomes –οι and ἥλιος becomes ἥλιοι which would be hēlioi.

For the same reason I believe we have [the hoi] polloi, because it comes from singular form of 'many' which is πολύς.

Pah a trifling detail, any classics scholar worth their qualification can do both... Note I'm not...

Nelly, that was purely a bike spot - I was two floors up and you'd already passed as I looked down. Not so many black singles on that route before 7am. If you're ever going in late one morning, stop for a look at the greenyblue fixed by the video/photo shop. It's vurry pretty, but I don't think the owner starts work till 9ish.

Reverse spot: recombodna in his van as I was coming through Polworth roundabout on the way back from being vampired. He recognised the beard and honked in that cheery way, I recognised the van from SRD's description of the curtains and followed him for a blether.

Oh, forgot to say: your right rear brake light is knackered.

Sometimes I txt message random driving instructors to tell them their brake lights are out. I'm sure they think it's a fellow motorist and would be surprised it's a militant biker thug! ;-)

Edit: when their lights *are* out, obviously.

I thought I'd let you write this one up, Nelly, but yep. I had the advantage of not doing anything at the time we came into view of each other, mind. Nothing except model what was indeed the dashing POP T-shirt, that is.

The shellmet and partially swallowed Yorkie does seem to be doing the business. Might need to amend my CCE trump card?

Is there anything Arellcat can't write confidently and (I can confirm, in this case at least, accurately) about?

This forum does seem to feature some remarkably well-educated people.

Possible bike courier? Appeared to be chatting into his walkie talkie heading up to the omni centre roundabout seemingly oblivious of the taxi starting to encroach upon him.

I think another Uberuce spot, top of Ashley terrace, standing outside the newish flats about 6.46, I was going downhill, wondering why I had put a rain jacket on.

If it was indeed you - thats 3 in 24 hours - possibly 4 if you are at the Diggers later !!

I was in brickie tabard white T-shirt(not the POP this time)and short, waiting for a gap in traffic? The timing's right, anyway.

I'll see you in Diggers, but if my grasp of the rules of Spotted thread is correct, it doesn't count for pre-arranged meets.

The only question is: who is stalking who?

Two fully Copenhagenized cycle chic women with baskets on the front of their bikes riding at speed round a corner on the pavement at Lady Road while three hateful lycra louty, hi-viz and helmet wearing, cycle revolution preventing scumbags rode round the same bit on the road.

@cb it could well have been me - I was rather later than I usually am because I had a p*nct*re this morning which I only spotted when I unfolded the bike. Mr fimm gave me a hand so we sorted it fairly efficiently.

Were you the other cyclist buying a Big Issue?

No*, but I was nearby locking my bike in a dodgy perpendicular manner to the bike racks.

Saw you later on the platform; long black coat rang a bell with a description from another thread.

*Now, I think about it - wrong sex, IIRC.

One of the nice/interesting things about forums is that it isn't always possible to tell if a person is male or female from thier pseudonym...

I have a very long, heavy black coat for winter, and the mid-length leather coat that I was wearing this morning for spring/autumn.

anth, just west of the St Mary's St junction on the High Street. I went round Market St/Ramsay Gardens to see which was quickest but was either very quicker or just too slow as he was not re-spotted on Johnston Terrace.

3000 or so cyclists, between 15:00 and 16:00 on the Meadows, George IV Bridge and Royal Mile...

    WOW!
