Anyone recognise this dapper gent with the rather spiffing Moulton?

Lots of hellos today to Laid Back, Ruggtomcat, RJ, Kaputnik, Darkerside, Rabid Hamster, Spytfyre, chdot and happy waves to SRD, Anth, Stepdoh, Uberuce, Liz, Cllr Steve Burgess, and several more probably. Good to catch up with RichieB, from another parish, too.

Was nice to meet Min, Anth and SRD today - I probably saw more of you but those are the three people who identified/already knew them.

I spotted most of those (and many more) and I claim to be only CCEer who actually recognised WFB.

AND I spotted (and know) the person he saw cycling through Aidrie this morning.

    And Bella Bathurst.

PLUS lots of people who would love to be on CCE and haven't quite got round to it.

ALSO people who only came because their bike had been flyered - almost certainly by one of the many CCEers who helped make today happen (you know who you are).

Dunno who the scruffy woman in the pink top is.

Was nice to meet/see loads of you. I saw more people than I was able to speak to since there was such a huge crowd it was hard to reach people!

    I liked the Helios Fleet.

Three letter acronym, who be WFB? Congratulations to all concerned for doing such a sterling job before, during and after the event, fantastic turnout, brilliant day.

@chdot, you just know lots of folk!!

Apart from a dapper gent with Moulton hailing from this parish, and a lady in pink, spotted some others who didn't spot me I don't think: Uberuce, Anth, DaveC.

Was spotted in turn by Kaputnik.

Better to be too distracted than too shy to introduce yourself, SRD! I shall have to get to a coffee meet soon.

When stationary on George IV Bridge, Mr MeepMeep and I were stood by a chap in a tweed suit, plus fours and a countryside checked shirt! He looked pretty dapper!

Ah! It was you I was standing next to then.

Good to see so many people taking part today.

Watching Wayne's World right now, it has come to my attention that I look disturbingly like Wayne. Time for a hair cut.

I think all of CCE except for Dave:

Dave was scrambling up the hill at the same time.

I was amongst a group stewarded (if that's a word) in the Meadows by Uberuce. Didn't want to distract him from his duties so kept quiet. Also spotted Min and someone I now know to be WFB. As neither know me I kept my distance though. Can't decide if it's more creepy to have a total stranger say hello or for that same stranger to know who you are but not say hello. A no-win situation - Mrs Knees thinks I'm CCE's internet stalker anyway...

Ohhh next time just come up and say Hi. You might be overwhelmed by boys and told their life stories.

There were quite a few Bromptons, odd looking things that they are. I rarely see one so I don't usually notice.

No problem Mr Knees. There were several people I failed to speak to as well, reaching them through the crowds was hard! But also no problem to come up and say hello, I went up to Zenfrozt!

Also meant to say I spoke to a woman from Dundee who had come for the occasion which was cool.

@WFB : OK, will do. And a 'Next Time' would be a very good idea - mebbe next year, to keep the MSPs on their toes and make them account for whatever progress has/hasn't been made. The turnout was very encouraging, but I noticed quite a lot of cyclists going the other way when I was cycling to PoP on the Roseburn path, so there's greater numbers out there, I reckon...

Noted, Min. Next time. By co-incidence, there was a woman in front of me at the Meadows who was handing out cake, so she might have been from Dundee, too...

Many probably knew nothing about the demo. Others will have seen a dry, sunny day and not been able to resist doing a long distance club or training run. I think the Kinross Sportive was yesterday, too. Some people don't 'do' demos. Some 'cycle for fitness' only. Some are Conservatives (was Boris on the London ride? Cameron Rose on the Edinburgh one? Seems he was! )

Everybody has a right not to attend and/or do demos in general, for whatever reason (I'm not a serial demo attender myself). And I suspect the pre-event publicity was as good as it could be given timing and limited (I'm sure) budget. Taken together, that makes what actually happened yesterday all the more impressive. I guess it's all about momentum now, which is where my hope that there's more attendees 'out there' comes from.

    Of course.

    Absolutely.

Which begs the question: what next?

Which begs the question: what next?

Good question. As a humble participant/footsoldier in yesterday's event I'm not sure it's my place to set the agenda, but for my 2p worth I'd like to see events planned for next year simultaneously in the major Scottish conurbations. We can still PoP, while others can pedal on their respective city chambers / council, etc. Much more publicity that way, as long as the impact isn't diluted (which I'm not sure about).

Occurs to me this isn't really a 'spotted' topic any more - let's reconvene on another thread... I'm heading for "#POP28 - so what do 'we' think?"

Apologies too from me to those I didn't spot yesterday at POP, or properly acknowledge - please put it down to overlapping-cycle-tribe overload and failure to wear specs (doesn't normally matter, but probably did y'day)!

Non-CCE spots included: part of the work Taffia plus family; friend-who-lives-next-door plus Flying-Scot-riding f-i-l who'd come through from Glasgow pinging his front brake cable on the way; multiple Sciennes parents and offspring ... ; ... overlapping with German Saturday-morning-school parents and offspring; and the guy I pass most days doing opposite-direction school-runs pushing the bike.

    Phew.

@Uberuce - the wean-pushing marshal in your photostream looks like Kirst's mate Colin-from-Granton

Dave, towing trailer on MMW yesterday with a blue box strapped on to it. Dunno what was inside, very mysterious.
