Hmm, strange, it looks like TBC has replied but I can't see a post?

    Edit-Oh I can now.

Cool, will look out! Sounds like a good idea since I am worried about panniers obscuring seat post lights.

It is completely unobscured and bright. BIG reflector panel too.

I do like to have rear lights bolted on - I know it's possible to remove anything but if it looks like a rack reflector then people don't notice / leave alone.

What make? I've sold bikes with a few ones fitted from unbranded to B+M Toplight.

    Does it have flash mode?

There you go. It is an RSP/Generic Raleigh Taiwan Special. It has 2 flash modes
    1. The centre light stays on and sides flas
    2. All flash
(in addition to all on of course).

    Thanks...

Bolts on to suitable racks (80mm hole spacing already punched through - 50mm also available) for better security.

So has holes marked for 50 too? I know RSP products and they do offer great value.

This now has it's own topic.

I think the Tourer needs one of those rack lights.

    Er...

You don't need my permission to start new threads - especially about things largely/wholly unrelated to original topic.

Well what do you know? I ran in to TBC (not literally..) in almost exactly the same place again this morning. Forgot to look at the rack light though, d'oh.

I also spotted a bike with a sort of side car arrangment on the Roseburn earlier on. It was being towed behind but was off to the left hand side.

"in almost exactly the same place again this morning"

Just shows how reliable bike travel is, (unless one of the travellers is Anth).

    Oi!

I'm not even sure I know what that means. For the record I've seen Min the last two days in almost exactly the same place too... :P

Yup that is true! The exact crossing place seems to go in stages as well. A few days of the same place, then it moves to a different place. Kind of a predictable randomness-synchronicity.

"I'm not even sure I know what that means."

Just pointing out the long saga (chronicled here) of not/meeting Min on your daily journeys - obviously this is due to changing starting times, different bike/routes - which all add to attraction of commuting by bike and, in general, reliability.

@Min I presume there are other people you see regularly - most won't be on CCE, though some might.

    Posted 13 years ago #
  16. Aha I see!

I've got regulars I see. One chap I'm now on nodding terms with as we pass; another I've not seen for a while would always say hello and once commented on the bike being nice. Others, of course, I see every day, but resolutely remain tunnel-visioned.

You're right though. It's only really a VERY strong headwind or deep snow that will have a noticeable impact on the journey times. And I love the possibility of changing routes on a whim knowing that traffic isn't going to make it difficult (tend to do this going home more than coming to work for some reason).

Yes there are. I give some of them nicknames. :-D

Oh don't worry they are all nice/inoffensive like GuyWithDog who is always really cheerful.

  20. Do you ever see the ManInnaMac? Kirst and I used to comment on him to each other and how confusing it was in the summer when he changed into a poorly fitting half-mast trousers suit or the like. Always, every single morning, walking along the Innocent.

Where he is on the path is a good indication of how early or late I'm running.

Oh yes I see him all the time but tend not to use him as a guage as I see him too far along the path. I prefer to use the chap that is always between the tunnel and the pavement section. If he isn't, I look at my watch!

OrangeVest once messed with my head quite badly when I saw him in South St Andrew Street rather than just entering the tunnel. Quite serious displacement that!

    Your commuting territory sounds far more amusing than mine. My most common company on the ride is;

    Bus man
    Taxi man
    Private Hire Car man
    White Van man

Can't say I've got any polite nicknames for them

I see little old man with big dog, old lady with little dog, man on bike with funny shaped head, hot guy on bike with funny sunglasses, Walking Man in a Mac, bloke on bike with round helmet, and that other bloke.

Panicking now as to which I am...

Can't remember which chap it is on here who wears a skirt, but you weren't at the Botanics this lunchtime were you?

Ive been known to cross the meadows in the morning wearing a miniskirt and fishnets, thought i wouldn't get away with it, but there was just enough coverage!

It has to be said, many of the mamil's I've seen in cycling tights would be a lot easier on the eyes if they'd stick a hockey skirt or something over the top!

Maybe they could be convinced that pleats are aerodynamic, you know, like the dimples on golf balls :-))
