Missoni kilts have umpteen little pouches similar to bag for climber's chalk
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Spytfyre going east through the Torphicen Street diversion on his way west, and then again at the top of Dewar Place waiting on the lights.
Can't help thinking Hotel Missoni would be amusing for a cycle visit. The chap in the kilt is very helpful opening car doors carefully in the parking bay beside the often ignored quality bike lane. If we turned up he could valet park our bikes whilst we share a coffee or drink tap water at the bar. You would think that they would have some bike racks;-)
@Gembo Ahhh, that explains i; I'd only met you bareheaded and upright till then. Shades'n'helmet plus the viewing angle messes it up completely.
Works both ways, mind; first time I saw Amir at a PY as he rode in, I recognised him immediately, but then a few moments later a complete stranger wearing Amir's top came and sat across the table and started speaking to me.
Someone shouted "That's a stupid looking bike" at me as I stopped on Melville Drive to take photos of the Noomad this morning....
You should have shouted back "well that's a stupid looking face!"
@kaputnik - Yes it took me a second to realise the word being shouted at me from the passing cyclist was "spotted" - I was assuming it was abuse for not jumping the lights...
Terrific-looking tandem tootling town-wards on the towpath.
It was red, but I was behind and couldn't see the make. The tandemistas on it both had broadly-similar red tops that matched the bike. They also had red Ortlieb panniers. All looked very new and shiny and really rather nice.
I saw that too and similarly thought everything looked very shiny and new. some sort of front bar bag as well to match the panniers.
Dave in TBC. So he's had advance sight of the 'contraption'.
Me. Spotted "loads" by the guy in the key cutting shop in Nicolson Street.
Min, in the tunnel. RTC, just before he entered the tunnel.
Wingpig turning off Gardners Cresent on to Fountainbridge. I did wave but you were busy filtering.
Tandem with MTB tyres and front sus forks up at Comrie Croft - available to hire, but looked a touch heavy.
N.b. if anyone is camping up there this summer, take or hire a mtb, plenty trails and a new skills park
Oops yes, my brain mislaid my Wingpig sighting.
Anth in TBC... darn!
Bought a bell today, to my shame. I just can't take it any more (A Festival Too Far?)
Dave/Roibeard spotting complex this morning - I'm not sure how I managed to be so early, the first school run cycle seemed to go very smoothly.
Can't last...
Robert
Pipped to the post AGAIN! ;-)
Smiley lady with a mid green Brompton at Haymarket this morning, if you're on here, hello! (Waves).
Surprisingly rare to see a brommie from a brommie! :-s
"Surprisingly rare to see a brommie from a brommie!"
Oi!, you've never been to London mate; innit.
Surprisingly rare to see a Pacific CarryMe from... well, pretty much anywhere.
2nd time I have seen it. At Stirling station.
Those are small wheels, makes 355s look positively huge.
Was that an unspectacled DaveC riding his orange bike on the path this morning?
"Surprisingly rare to see a brommie from a brommie!"
Agreed, there are lots and lots of Bromptons in London (correction, there are lots and lots of bicycles in London...). I was, however, in a two-Brompton convoy yesterday afternoon - man on green Brompton running lights in daylight followed me down the Dalry Road and then passed me due to being quicker to decide to filter over the nasty potholes at the start of Gorgie Road.
I saw two Bromptons at end of path running along north of the Meadows. Brompton 2 was pulling a Carryfreedom type trailer.
@Insto, mioght have been. Set off from the Bay at 06.20 with 2 others, one of which left us at Cramond Brig. We headed along the cycle path and headed along the North Sub path towards Broughton. Where did you pass us?
@DaveC. Not sure. If you're on your orange bike today then I'm pretty sure it was you. Only twigged afterwards though.
@Chdot,I say! Many times young man, but outside rush hour though bicycles are common I found Bromptons to be a surprisingly rare beast, and as I wasn't riding one a brommie brommie spot was rendered impossible ;-p
"outside rush hour though bicycles are common I found Bromptons to be a surprisingly rare beast"
Presume you are talking London there(?)
I think you are right in that Bromptons have become a 'commuter tool' - either because of train/tube or relative ease of stowing at work.
There also seem to be 'leisure class' users who are less likely to cycle in cities.
Yes, sorry, I was referring to London. Tbh the Brompton is tending to become my default choice of bike, it's multi-modal qualities combined with a pleasant ride make it a far better all rounder than I expected. Just need to sort out the dynamo and find a suitable briefcase/satchel/bag for the rear rack and it'll be near perfect :-) There seemed to be a lot of "transport" cyclists last time I was in London on all sorts of steeds. Good to see!
Wilmingtons Cow cycling past my window in East Parkside looking rather fetching apart from some sort of pushchair attached to the front forks of his bike....
