Thanks to the guy in the TBW shirt who works at the Tri centre who pumped up what we thought was a slow leak on Mr SRD's tyre nr Spylaw park, and the two guys who did likewise on the canal path not much later.

We'll be repairing the puncture during the tennis! And taking a pump next time we go out!

Might be an urban myth but if you stuff the tyre with long grass, you should be able to limp home without damaging the wheel or your derriere.

Caveat - never tried it myself.

I've done the old long grass trick nearly thirty years ago, I carry a spare tube and pump now!! Spare tube and pump are a lot lighter than a bale of straw.
It works, just, and you need a lot of grass. If your a couple of miles from home it's quicker pushing the bike.

...and thanks to the driver who stopped and gave me and my bike a lift across the flooded section of road between Gifford and Stenton this afternoon.
