"Shell recognises that certain organisations are opposed to our exploration programme Offshore Alaska, and we respect the right of individuals and organisations to engage in a free and frank exchange of views about our operations."

Lots of big words that are tantamount to a well-worn two-word phrase.

Nothing in this world is precious anymore.

That must have been some non-violent direct action planning meeting - we need a stuffed polar bear and we need to get it onto the top of a Shell station and the press have to be there. Chapeau.

You sure the polar bear got on the roof? Maybe this photo was taken before the stuffing(?)

    Wow!

A couple of years ago, a group of us cycled around 5 of the Shell stations in Edinburgh, with a banner, handing out leaflets to drivers/passers-by for Amnesty International regarding Shell's activities in the Niger delta, e.g.:

    - I'd like to point out that we made sure we didn't block access and we stayed on the pavement outside the garages.
(probably why we didn't get in the news :).
We did have one Shell staff member come over, swear at as, tear up some leaflets and threaten to burn our banner, but in general people seemed fairly friendly!

That's good although they look like they've beamed down from the Enterprise.

There were still two protesters on the roof of Dalry petrol station when I went past yesterday evening, and lots of police attending. I felt sorry for the protesters, because they were actually trying to voice their concerns to a deaf world.

A family along the road from me were a really early adopter of DHW solar panels on their roof. People seemingly laughed at them back then, tofu-knitting treehuggers that they were, but they put their money where their mouth was. Now houses all over the place have them.

Far more houses with PV panels these days I would have said.

That's what I was implying. Except I did say DHW, not PV - they're two different things.
