I used a route plotting site last year and I cannot now remember what it was. Can anyone please suggest what it might be? It wasn't an automatic system - I had to enter all the points myself and it connected the points.

Perhaps that linked on the toolbar above as "Cycle Journey Planner"?

Others are available...

RideWithGPS is in my mind the best out there at the moment, although you do have to create a free account. My thoughts here: http://www.darkerside.org/reviews/ridewithgps-review/

Thanks, it was indeed Bike Route Toaster. RWGPS looks impressive as an alternative to Strava.

BikeHike is also a useful alternative to BikeRouteToaster, as it combines OS mapping info too (although it runs out of tiles at some points of the evening) and you don't need to click to a different tab to see the distance you've plotted.
Downside is that the silly thing only knows how to travel on roads if you're using the auto-route. BikeRouteToaster is much better for off-road bicycle planning.

Another option is Garmin's 'courses' facility:

That said, I think previous suggestions are likely better, but it largely depends on what you're needing.
