If it's a mountain bike you're taking, then the 7stanes trails down there are stupendously good (Kirroughtree and Dalbeattie being my two favourites).
They wouldn't be any good at all on a road bike however :-)

If you try this one (24 miles on road)

you should be able to spot some Henry Moores.

They all look great, may try the glenkiln one or the Lochfoot one
Don't get to cycle in a leisurely fashion much, so this'll be nice.

If you do the latter, you'll pass near the settlement of Beeswing. "Formerly known as Lochend, it was renamed to honor the great racing mare, Beeswing"!!
Also name of unrelated song.

Ended up doing the Glenkiln loop and very enjoyable it was too, it's pretty hilly till about half way round the loop, then it's pretty much downhill all the way back to Dumfries.
Henry Moore statues were really cool, and I got very excited when I saw a warning sign for red squirrels as I've never seen one, but sadly I've still never seen one. :)
Lots of wildlife from sheep to pheasants from lots of belted galloway coos and I even saw a heron take flight. Was a great ride.
