    More astonishment from me.
Since I can't/don't know how to attach a document here, I've copied and pasted it below. You will all, I think, easily interpret the result as was intended in the original. I did not get the attached plan mentioned below but I will try to get it so I can post details here.

I will be objecting anyway on the details given here. I would encourage others to do so too.

    ------

    THE CITY OF EDINBURGH COUNCIL

Copies of objections or representations will be sent to the applicant. Objections or representations can be delivered by hand or posted by Recorded or Registered Delivery Post so that they would normally be expected to arrive by the above date. Apparently, the plan has not yet been given to the Planning Department!

"Since I can't/don't know how to attach a document here"

    You can't.

You have to link to original or somewhere you have hosted it - own web space, WordPress.com blog "media", DropBox etc.

  4. I will be objecting anyway on the details given here

I'm not sure the 'details' are enough to decide either way to be honest. It's simply somewhere on MMW that someone will be selling food. Much like Peter's Yard and Starbuck and Tupinquim... If the plan shows it located bang in the middle of the bike lane (or the pedestrian lane) then I'd object. Outside of that though?

there are a couple of spots on MMW for traders - there's the juice / crepe bar at the top and sometimes the mobile police box coffee/pizza bar next to it. At other times its a second hand DVD/CD/LP stall.

There's been a wee van at the bottom recently that is a coffee bar, just tucked around the corner where the compass is being repainted on the junction.

These seem to operate without any problem, proving at least that the principle of trading on MMW is OK if it is done sensibly and at the wider points.

I think they refused the last application, for the soup van now in George Square on grounds of complaints from the businesses in Quartermile that they might steal trade.

Pretty sure the soup van was refused because he planned to drive up and down MMW, which we all agreed was not good.

The Stoats van was never too much of a problem as long as he kept his stupid big car off the path and stuck to the pedestrian side of NMW.

I was asked at the fairmer's mairket what the difference between Stoats Oats and regular oats were. Only answer I could think of was "the packaging". Their company people carrier is often parked outside my flat, wonder if they have a company porridgebike.

If those details are all we are given...?

  11. Well it should be possible to request sight of the application. Inviting objections etc. with no details other than what amounts to 'Middle Meadow Walk, food seller' would be slightly odd (especially given you've got to state the nature of the objection - which could be written as 'Will obstruct the cycle path and pedestrian walkway', but if the applciation has it off to the side then the objection isn't valid and it's a waste of everyone's time and effort).

First step would be to request sight of the application (including the plan) to see if there is a basis for objection.

Thought this might tickle a few MMW users.

Coffee anyone as you cycle past? Tacos? Burgers? Falafel?
