Just got this in for the 1st time - been available for a while but ignored it.
It's a great idea!

We are liking it a bit - makes heaps of sense.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

'like'
Does it fold down? (thinking of possibilities of clunking it on stuff). If I didn't have a saddlebag with tools on each bike that this would be useful for...
Slightly randomly OT, given you're here... Any recommendations for CX disc-brake wheelsets? Got road wheels on the CX at the mo, which are good, but not... 'robust'. And if I'm going to ride more of it I want something a bit sturdier, and that can take slightly wider tyres.
does it attack to any QR skewere, or need the Pedros one. As in how easy is it to swap between bikes?
I believe it IS the skewer so no probs there. Does look like a very cool tool!
It comes with the skewer and folds pretty flat - can't see it catching on anything.
You would just need to undo like a normal skewer and slide into another wheel. I reckon these are great for touring and road rider to minimise baggage etc.
Anth - off the shelf i think you should get Hope! Pro 2 on 29 Crest.
Also - the Hiplok arrived last night. Sold yin already this morning. Double cool!
It would get dirty/rusty pretty quickly on my bike.
It's a neat gadget, no doubt about that, and will appeal to a number of people of course.
I think hub level is completely the wrong place to keep a tool free of spray, dirt, grease, grime and it seems far more likely you would lose a tool and not notice if it was knocked or bumped off the QR than if you dropped your tool pouch / roll.
It seems too small to get decent leverage out of it and personally think causes more inconvenience than just moving a saddle-bag / tool roll between saddles. You still have to carry tubes, pump, patches, cable ties etc. anyway and when I toured I took a fair sized tin full of tools and spares as I wasn't going to be anywhere near a bike shop.
Could you top me up please? My glass is half empty ;)
Ooh Mr Gwumpy! :-)
QR tool = James Bond awesomesauce. Kaputnik, you need to dial back on that compulsive obsessive disorder and let your tools get a little manky.
Hiplok = wish I was an ambulance chaser. I understand motorcyclists are told never to wear their chain even Mexican bandido style across the shoulders, so wearing it right on the hips and lower spine seems begging for trouble.
If I recall correctly LFGSS has a thread where a Hiplok person apparently logged on and was terribly enthusiastic about the lock, but when the angry young'uns(not including me) asked questions about what measures or resaerch they'd taken to evaluate and/or reduce the hazard, his or her answers were not satisfactory. Plainly it might not have been an actual Hiplok employee, let alone sanctioned spokesperson.
have to have a look, wonder about how the road vibration will affect it.
