That's a real shame for her.

Indeed, the tears ran down my leg as I read of her plight.
Now if they would just enforce the 20 mph zones for a few days...

"Around 30 motorists were caught speeding in Lothian on Friday, Saturday and Sunday as police clamped down on drivers flouting the law."

Doesn't sound like much of a clampdown. Were they clamping down on people driving at double the speed limit or summat?

I would hope that the driver with three kids in the car doing 71 in a 40 zone is referred to the Children's Reporter

  8. Using your mobile while driving while banned is utter idiocy of the highest level. For lack of intelligence alone that person shouldn't be let behind the wheel of a car. She's racked up 12 points, the suggestion being that each set of three was separate and that served as no warning. Then proceeded to drive in a manner that got her pulled over and checked.

You'd think someone driving while banned would be trying to drive like an angel!

  9. "Just saw a women talking on her mobile phone when riding her bike on Ferry Road. What is the law re that ?"

Sheesh, the obsessive nature is quite impressive in its own way.

It isn't a specific offence to use a hand held mobile while cycling - the ban (introduced by the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Amendment) (No. 4) Regulations 2003) only applies to motor vehicles.

There may be circumstances where using a hand held mobile could be considered careless or inconsiderate cycling, or even dangerous cycling - but that is a judgement call for the police.

  11. Oh absolutely, and I could have responded on that (without the regs reference) but I'm abiding by my "Don't get into arguments with EEEN commenters" mantra... ;)

erm, is their any circumstances where using a mobile whilst cycling isn't careless, inconsiderate, or dangerous? At best, its just plain stupid, but then there is no law against that...

    EDIT aw aw ;)
