ITV Daybreak - Friday 3/8 - Meadowbank Velodrome Call for Cyclists

    Email received to 20milers looking for cyclists to turn up to the Meadowbank Velodrome tomorrow morning.

    Dear Sir/Madam

    I am a producer for ITV Daybreak, the breakfast TV programme.

    We’re doing live reports from the Meadowbank Velodrome tomorrow morning to celebrate our great Olympian Sir Chris Hoy.

    We would like to have as many cyclists there as possible to celebrate Sir Chris’s achievements

    I wonder whether you could ask some of your members to join us for the live reports

    Timings

    We would need as many people as possible to be on site by 0545 and for them to stay as long as is possible as we want to do at least two live hits during the morning. If some cant get there until later on, that’s fine. We are on air until 0830.

    Getting to the velodrome in the morning

    We can arrange for taxis to get people to the Velodrome, (Meadowbank Sports Centre, London Road, Edinburgh EH7 6AE) in the morning due to the early hour, but it would be great if some could bring their bikes

    Update: (Received 3 hours ago i.e. hope that there weren't lots of p***ed off cyclists there this morning!)

    Hi there,

    I work for ITV’s Daybreak and we’re doing a live feature from The Meadowbank Velodrome this coming Monday. It was originally supposed to be today but has had to be rearranged so is now Monday 6th August. We would like to invite you all to come and take part in our live broadcast which will be on air from 6 am until 8:30 am. We will be filming in the home city of Olympic gold medallist Chris Hoy, celebrating his fifth Olympic Gold and chatting to fellow cyclists and the next generation of Olympic hopefuls at the Velodrome where he trained as a youngster.

    Please come down and get involved, the more cyclists we have the merrier! There will be ex Olympians and a pipe band as we discuss the sport and Olympics with fellow cyclist enthusiasts. Ideally we are looking for children to come down with their bikes but anyone is welcome.

    Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you would like more details. We will be meeting at:

    Meadowbank Sports Centre, London Road, Edinburgh EH7 6AE

    at 6am and you will be done by 08:30am.
