The thing that stood out to me was David Walsh - who is in tight with Team Sky - saying to Lance that Lance's relationship with a tarnished doctor is unacceptable.

Don't remember Walsh making similar statements when interviewing Brailsford, Wiggins, Froome.

A depressing reminder of how the same warning signs that were ignored 15 years ago are still being ignored.

I'm not sure anyone can say Team Sky have been given a free ride over Geert Leinders. Walsh has written about it in detail, criticising Brailsford's judgement.

I think not liking Lance Armstrong has quite a bit to do with it. I read this book and it made me pretty angry as the author was pretty open about the fact that he was going after Lance Armstrong because when he got famous he stopped returning his calls etc and that he was fine about Hincapie and Millar and so on taking drugs because he liked them. :-/

I watched the Storyville documentary on the iPlayer last night. I'd recommend it as a good, easily digestable summary of the Armstrong doping story.

It didn't add anything that hadn't been in the public domain for years in books like Walsh's From Lance to Landis (2007), but in amongst all the evidence of bad behaviour it did give some clear insight into why that group of American cyclists started doping. I don't condone what they did by any means, but I understand why they did it.

Just finished watching Storyville. If you've not read it, I suggest you go read The Secret Race by Tyler Hamilton (and Daniel Coyle). About 90% of what was in Storyville is in that book, as far as I recall.

Meanwhile, no interview with Fox can avoid Sheridan. Is his old enemy making a referendum comeback? "I couldn't care," he says. "Tommy Sheridan is the Lance Armstrong of Scottish politics. The only difference is that Lance Armstrong finally admitted what he did.

That headline is pretty bad. In the same circumstances and at the same time, he'd do the same thing. Not really that surprising, considering his justification (that everyone else was doing it). Aargh, I'm feeling empathy for him again. Must try to suppress it...

My overwhelming feeling still is that he is only sorry that he got caught.

Lots of other dopers, but still feel that his behaviour towards others is what marks him out to be made an example of. Hope that there is no leniency.

This time, he hits and runs.

    Only cars damaged fortunately.

He has opened a coffee shop across from evans. I had double espresso takeaway on way home the other night and beat all the Juan pelota strava KoMs on way up lanark road.

I'm not putting this in this thread because of 'suspicion' - more of a contrast.

    The world is utterly stupid.

This equates to (roughly, within an order of magnitude or so) the fine you might expect in our courts if you mow down 80000 pedestrians in your car.

Lance messed with money. Kill who you like, but do not mess with big brands.

I might be sticking my head above the parapet on this one but personally I agree with Lance that it should be thrown out of court.

These brands benefited from Lance's misdemeanours even more than he did. Their reputation hasn't been damaged by his actions either as they didn't condone or encourage them (at least that's what we are lead to believe).

For instance I'm sure US Postal made back their sponsorship many times over during the Lance era and are not losing any business now due to it either.

I can see why competitors and team mates might have a case but not the sponsors. Let's assume Floyd Landis was clean for instance he could presumably have earned more if Lance wasn't cheating. Likewise FedEx might have a case as their competitor US Postal was benefiting from Lance's cheating. However IANAL so what do I know.

I just watched the film Lance on BBC I-player. Not only a fascinating picture of a cycling warlord, but that Tour de France thingie looks quite exciting. I might catch some of it when it starts off again.

Me too. It was well done. Everyone got the space required to show who and what they are, especially Mr Armstrong.
