    https://twitter.com/EdPoliceChief

    He dropped by Sciennes Primary (aka https://twitter.com/SciennesPS) today and caught the tail end of the first day of P6's cycle training.

    He is already a 'cyclist', but it's good that such a senior officer is taking a professional interest in policing using bicycles and, in turn, issues affecting people on bikes.

    @nelly bringing the smack down. love it.

    I'm glad he's out there. In the long run I hope it encourages more publicity trips for him as he'll not have to worry about parking/traffic/tax payers money on driver/fuel etc.

    @arobcomp, only joking.

    I think its brilliant that such a high profile police officer is out on a cycle training day - hopefully getting some chat from chdot, and maybe, just maybe we might start to get some mindset changes (not just soundbites) from people in 'authority' regarding cycling.

    To be fair, I think the fact that there's a police officer on official liaison duty on this forum is a positive sign that L&BP wish to engage with the cycling community here. Chief of Police on a bike too: just gets better.

    It's also for him to actually cycle to actual meetings!

    He should be getting his photo in ENews too.

    Is he not the person who is for helmets to be made compulsory/mandatory?

    I'm pleased to see the police are sourcing their bikes through local supplier EBC...

    The helmet thing: was that not a predecessor of the current chief?
