Friend had his green On One Inbred, wifes white Marin mtb, and his sons Islabike taken from a shed on West Saville Terrace last night.

Also a couple of kids bikes (left out overnight) apparently pinched from Sciennes Primary School.

    Still plenty of rogues around.

Hmm, just around the corner. I'll keep a sharp eye out just in case.

Just back from holiday to discover my son's bike nicked (again). He's not going to bother getting another. Having had 2 bikes stolen in less than 2 years he does not see the point in spending hundreds of pounds yet again just so some low life can help himself.
Another barrier to cycling in Edinburgh!

After the insurance failed to payout last time, we switched providers so hopefully we will get some money back. Haven't had a chance to contact them yet since our flight got in yesterday.

Did they saw/crop through the lock or the cast iron to relieve him of his wheels?

A good dunt on some old cast iron is often enough to shatter it. Failing that, you can usually cut through it pretty sharpish with just a hacksaw.

If someone would like to come and steal the abandoned bikes in our stair that the neighbours refuse to move, despite never having moved them in 3 years and not being in a ridable condition, apply within for details. The other neighbours who do cycle would prefer not to have to leave their bikes in the back garden.

That's getting close to home - I really should get some replacement chain/metal rope to chain up everything in the garage. It's what I put ruddy big bolt loop things in the floor for after all.

I installed a big wall anchor with BB allen head bolts (non removable) into the garage wall with a big chain connecting the prized bike to it.

Will be doubling up though just in case as i don't fancy replacing a 3.5k bike that much.

Also, i used an obstacle course worthy of Gladiators inside the garage. Wife calls it 'unrecycled recycling' and BBQ's and ladders and 'stuff' though. But what would she know.
