The foldermoot seemed to go quite well, with Britain's economy stimulated by at least one Brompton purchase and merry bushels of shotties on bikes being done.

As mentioned in Spotted(I think), I reckon the same can be done for the opposite end of the spectrum, and thus I put the feelers out for a Pyeeting at the end of September, with the theme of cargo bikes.

Bring your trailers, your trikes, your 8-Freights, your Big Dummies, bakfiets, Bullits, butcher's bikes and bag-pimped Bromptons, and if you have none of the above but are bike-curious, bring your bahookie and you'll get a test run. If you don't care for any of the above, you baffle me, but come round for a coffee and blether anyway.

I'll say Thursday 27th or Friday 28th and see if the cats will herd to either.

Can't do either day I'm afraid. Thursdays and Fridays are out during term time...

If there's another day of the week that suits folk then I'll rumble along on the Ute.

I did have your Ute pencilled in as one of the star performers, so I'll gladly include Wednesday the 26th in the scheming and plotting.

26th should be doable. 7.30am right?

Officially PY opens at 7, but from that point on last PY Roibeard and I spent a good 15 minutes blethering outside until they were actually operational.

On that basis I'll probably trundle round for 7.20 or so.

I've been in and coffee'd up by ten past 7 before, so certainly shouldn't be much of a problem.

I'll bring my Y-Frame even if I can't rustle up something ludicrous to carry on it- but am very interested in other practical bike options!

I can only offer up my touring bike with panniers front and rear for cargo porpoises.

One of the parents of my charges works at the Bike Station, so I'll have a word with him about borrowing their mighty Bullit for the mornin'.

Kappers - I'm interested to see how that device runs anyway, so by all means fill it brickly and come over.

Will have to check the calendar once I'm back, however if the date suits I could bring the surly with full touring panniers, just need to sort out some dunnage to load it with!

Maybe recombodna can sort us out with some interesting bricks if he survives Sportiving the Bealach Na Ba. If I recall correctly he's more into interiors than housebuilding, but I imagine he's a good place to start sourcing heavy junk.

  11. Darn it, I'll be on the other side of the channel that day. Hmmm, will still use it as an aim for getting the homemade trailer built.

I have fifteen bricks I can donate? I could give them to Clive Dunn and he could give them to uberuce but he would haVe to cycle about with them until spotted. If the bricks are wanted then someone with trailer cold come out here for them

Clive Dunn would get his van stuck in the mud and the platoon would need to use an elephant to pull it out.

There are loads of free bricks in that empty site beside Fishwives' Causeway in Porty.

Not that Clive Dunn, the other one - "THere's no one quite like grandad ..."

I think that was a different soggy, cloying song.

"Grandad, grandad, we love you. "

    was Clive Dunn.

    Whereas,

"There's no one quite like grandma"

    was St Winifred's school choir.

I wish I knew as many useful things.

Aye it's a right bloomin' eyesore that gap site. What a mess! It would take a lot of cargo bike trips to clear it up...

Hey I know Clive Dunn. I've had dinner with him, he lives next to my pal in portugal. Very nice man, good stories to tell.

@recombodna - Does that Clive Dunn still run his restaurant? The other Clive Dunn, that you also know (Jonesy) hasn't been spotted by uberuce for days now, wait til tomorrow when he gets his lucky lecky guitar on his back and pedals to his session

@Gembo Na I don't think he has a restaurant any more. He's 92 now and pretty short sighted but still going strong. As for the other Jonesy was Uberuce the last one to see him alive??? You know that guitar case is just full of Tunnocks......

Had a word with chap from Bike Station and he's can't see any immediate spoilers for borrowing it overnight, although I can - I'm not willing to leave it in my stairwell overnight, and I don't fancy bothering my neighbours or sister at 7am to give me a hand getting it back down the stairs. However, if one of the attendees are willing to detour to mine (Harrison Park, almost beside Zazou) to lend some wiry strength or burly power, then that obstacle is gone.

They are also vaguely kinda sorta thinking they don't need two Bullits any more, so anyone tempted by it might be sorely tempted if they do put it up for sale.

@recombodna -- no, I saw him at work Monday, tried to get him to join this forum. He is curiously resistant? What's not to like. Was in Glasgow today. pure dead brilliant big man

Met the Bike Station folk at the Sky ride and gave the Bullit an experimental lift'n'shoogle. Pretty sure I can burl it down the stairs myself, although it won't be pretty and I'd not like to do that every day.

@uberuce, but will they bring 'their'* Christiania trike? ie the one that was presented to the city?

I was looking at buying a bullit bike a few years ago and had a good ride on one of them. WAs really good. I wanted to use it for a bit of mega touring, but need a garage to keep it in I think!

Will keep and eye out if they want to sell....
