The forecast this morning said something about gales this afternoon?

(edit: that might have been for the highlands though, met office says nothing about it).

    (edit 2: 24-hours looks nicer... http://www.geos.ed.ac.uk/abs/Weathercam/station/24hours.html )

That's a bit of an understatement.

More than a tad blowy, I would say. 23mph gusting to...?

Full-on headwind over the moor to West Linton. Rain at The Borders border too.

Nice soup and scone in WL.

    ... gusting to 40mph.

Due to fade slightly in the evening.

i went over FRB at around 1pm, some hefty gusts whipping round the towers.

45mph winds not so good on the carbon whippet.

Has it been anything other than windy this week? Monday seemed especially bad on the mute home.

I didn't think it was too bad.
On Wednesday I took the slightly longer route home and still managed to average 29km/h!!! I think there might have been a bit of a tailwind... (I was on the road bike, not the Brompton, before anyone asks...)

Yesterday's wind gave me a 9mph advantage on the way home eastbound on part of my route.

I was breaking the speed limit by 5mph, but the car ahead was still gaining on me.

8mph on canal to Ratho, 22mph on the way back (on the clear bits between bridges, obviously).

Strava 2nd place without going faster than walking speed around the corners so I think a 'safe' ride could crack the KOM :)

Weather ideal for lower things tho.... at least one forumer now has a fairing on a trike.

8mph - that couldn't have been on the Raptobike then?

On Tuesday I averaged just under 50kph on the flat coming down the coastal road towards Helensburgh. Stonking tailwind - I'm pretty sure a similar feat could have been achieved on a shopping trolley.

@LB: I thought an upright escort bike would be better for pulling into the wind!
