"More than 100 cyclists were killed and more than 3,000 were seriously injured in the UK last year.
The figures have so shocked staff at one hospital in Birmingham, they have launched their own safety campaign to try to save lives. "
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".

Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.

I haven't clicked on the links yet, but I'm going to predict that, rather than instructing drivers on key safety behaviours like not cutting across or driving into cyclists, speeding, using mobiles etc, they're going to be focused on getting the victims of road collisions to take responsibility for being involved in them.
Actually fairly well balanced after a quick look at the beeb report. Although does a good job of step around the Elephant in the Room by simply stating that roads with cars on them are dangerous and there is nothing to be done about it...
There are a couple of vague and brief mentions that drivers should take some responsibility in amongst all of the stuff about how its all the cyclists.
Yep, the actual campaign appears purely aimed at cyclists, so it was only the reporting that even gave some nod towards motorists...
Still, at least the recommended helmet benefits are not oversold - [they] can help prevent a minor head injury if you fall from your bike. (emphasis mine)
