Crowd sourced Edinburgh ride?

    Following on from the triumph that was Anth's Ride, does anyone fancy a crowd sourced follow-up?

    I'm pretty certain that some of us could plot (and lead) a route through our own patches (wards, stomping grounds, whatever), and that these routes could be stitched together to make a bigger city ride.

    I'm happy to plot a bit, although my bits might not be the most enthralling (or might could be more fun, but would then be unsurfaced!).

    The other catch would likely be that it might not actually take place for months, if we're coordinating multiple diaries! Still, we could be thinking now, for riding in Q1 2013...

    Anyone else interested?

    Can't see anyone else doing it, and I was thinking the same @chdot re your post on NYC rides!

    I had thought about riding the Fife circle one day, following the train lines. Turns out it's only 53 miles starting in Inverkeithing, working your way round all the stations and coming back to Rosyth. If anyone fancies it I'll pick a date. From Rosyth station it's only a couple of miles back to mine for a cuppa.

    Sounds like a nice idea.

    Obviously there aren't roads right next to the lines, so I assume you have worked out a suitable route?

    I would have if I could get Bike Route Toaster to play nice. The Fife coastal path would get you to Kirkcaldy and then it be picking your way along the quiet back roads (or hammering down the A roads) round the rest of it. Probably longer than the 53 miles if you go on the minor roads. One attraction is that folk could start and decide they've done enough, jumping on a train at the next station.

    It's not that long since bike bits were designed (particularly in California) and faxed to Taiwan for production.
