Sounds interesting.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Its here..the Cyclone Bike Track commences construction – the first turf is being cut at 9am today! Volunteers from State Street, Scottish Gas Networks and the council join forces with MYDG volunteers and staff to dig in and lay 22 tonnes of hardcore and chippings! Come along…its not to late!
Cyclone Bike Track Day 1 – over 40 volunteers turn out!
Sep 25, 2012
Great turn out despite the awful weather, together local volunteers and staff from Scottish Gas Network, State Street and the local council excavated over 350 metres of turf ready for the laying of road chippings tomorrow. . Fantastic hard work from all the guys

Hopefully the local neds won't come along and dig holes in it like they did on the berms in the Easter Drylaw spiral track.
We're going to try and maintain it, its only phase 1 of 5 - still lots to do to it. This one was partially built by 'neds', still I share your worries and hope it doesn't get vandalised - it was designed by, and the building of it was co-ordinated by, a guy who left school with a kid age 15 and zero qualifications.
Good job, my dg. Great if the local youth have invested in it and have ownership. Will try and get down there next weekend with my son.
Slightly hard to find - surrounded by trees!

Another volunteer session next Monday to prepare for Grand Opening on 22nd.
Quite keen to help out next week but chances are I'll be busy sadly. Looks good so far, looking forward to riding it, once I fettle the mtb back to health.
Grand opening 1:00 today (until 4).
Looks like the worst of the 'forecast' rain won't fall in the early afternoon.
How to get there -
Testing the big drop -
I took my son along here yesterday, got absolutely soaked on the way but we had great fun on the ground level track. Had a go on the new trail but beyond both our skill levels for now! Will definitely be along for more practise!
Well done to everyone involved in the design and construction.

Cyclone Bike Track: Gypsy Brae, Edinburgh - The Story so far...
Scotland's Capital has launched its newest & largest mountain bike track Cyclone. The bike track is situated in the heart of the North Edinburgh community (Granton, Pilton, Muirhouse). The facility was given the green light in 2012 following a 'Dragons Den' style pitch by then 20 year old, community activist, young father of 2 & MY Adventure employee, Peter Airlie to a panel of Investors including representatives from coffee shop chain Starbucks, Edinburgh City Council and other businesses. £2000 was initially invested and the project secured support in the form of a dutiful Volunteer workforce from State Street Bank, Scottish Gas Networks & the city Council. Together with an enthusiastic band of local volunteers. Phase 1 (a short track) was completed on 2 very rainy windy days in October 2012.
In May and June 2013 phase 2 of the track went underway and thanks to recent lottery winners The Weir Trust a further investment of £2000 and a contribution of £600 from the John Watson Trust kicked off phase 2. Thanks to this support along with tireless effort of volunteers from the local community, State Street Bank, Tomorrows People, Sopra, St David's school, Ravelrig (Tarmac) Quarry, Anderson Strathern Business Services and Scottish Gas (Centrica) the first 'red' technical track is now complete and ready to use.
Members of the public can use the track freely all year at their own risk.
MYDG / MY Adventure will run regular training sessions to learn and develop mountain bike skills. Contact info@myadventure.org.uk
Friends of Gypsy Brae (the bigger picture)
In June 2012 Muirhouse Youth Development Group got a lease from Edinburgh City Council with permission to build a push bike track. This land includes much more space than is needed for a bike track included some grass, bush and woodland. We need local people to get involved. As well as needing people to help build the bike track which local people can use, we need ideas for what other activities people want to see at Gypsy Brae. Many ideas are already being banded about including: forest school, woodland walks, school environment projects, fruit planting and flowers.
MYDG, Link-Up and local activists are very keen to include everyone's views on how best utilise the space and get all kinds of groups conserving and enhancing both the natural environment as well as the bike track area for future generations to create a legacy. Together we can ensure that the Gypsy Brae area makes a lasting contribution to people's health and well being. Please get in touch if you'd like to know more or get involved in the Friends of Gypsy Brae email: Julie@mydg.org.uk
