Google/YouTube, noting that I regularly look at videos of trains* and bicycles (the former in the company of my young son, the latter alone), suggested this as a 'related link'. May be of interest for those who do multi-mode commutes by bike and train.

*I must also confess to a passing interest in these myself, which is one that I suspect I share with a surprising number of this forum's membership.

Completely insane. You need a big, largely empty (but intact) rail network to take advantage of this. I suppose the former Soviet countries have this. Here they pulled up all the little used train and tram rails long ago.

Neat wee two stroke engine on that bike...

Actually it would work in places where the trams/trains either don't run at all (eg. on a Sunday), or run only very infrequently.

Some of the Highland lines could be used with this bike, as long as you checked the timetable very carefully!

Excellent! I wonder if they have "Dragons Den" in Russia. Who could refuse a chance to invest in something as revolutionary as the Segway? Oh, wait...

Got one of these in the shed for when I have time/money/inclination/a vintage roadster to bolt it to...

    Smudge:

    1. A lot of people walk along that bit of track as the surrounding land is a bog! I think it's fine to walk along/beside, as it's annoying otherwise :)

    2. How did they not notice it coming? There's nothing else around!!

I think there's 4-6 trains/day on that line? I remember realising the train would be going past and minimoth+I racing to the top of a ridge to watch it go past in the distance :)
