Dropped by the PfS site to look into registering for 2013, only to spy a photo of Keith Brown astride a bike, gearing up for the Challenge Ride.

Couldn't quite believe my eyes. Here he is with Mark Beaumont:

Wonder if he made it to the finish?

  2. One of the years I rode it Nicola Sturgeon was there at the start and proudly rode out. To the first rest stop 10 miles away where she was whisked away in a car.

Anyone got photos of the Minister at the finish? Or alternatively sneaking into a chauffeur driven limo?

I think there's more chance of the piper having completed it...

Does it not chafe a bit riding 'commando' in a kilt though? As for the sporran bashing one's nether regions for 50 miles.....ouch.

Must be why Scots, including the Transport Minister, have taken to driving everywhere instead. It's the kilts.

Maybe our resident kilt wearing cyclists would beg to differ?

Well at the POP stall, Mark Beaumont stopped by to say hello, I *think* I saw Alison Johnstone, I definitely saw a mutant ninja turtle and there were two pirates on a tandem (who are coming to the next POP) - but no Keith Brown. Doesn't mean he wasn't there of course

    I think I saw Alison Johnstone (but I wasn't 100% sure!).

I didn't see Keith Brown either. We should definitely all send him some congratulations for switching to the bicycle! & That we'll say hi if we cycle past him on the bike paths. :)

Not defending his policies, but does he not spent quiet a bite of time on his bike around Alloa / Dollar area?

@Baldcyclist - oh really? That gives me some sort of hope [not sure why really...but it's good he's actually used a bike before!] - does he ever go on the roads or is this all on hill-tracks?
