Is this the future? ;-)
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.
No
Is this the future? ;-)
No. No. And thrice No.
Of course it does allow you to peek out from between parked cars more easily!
Voice over my shoulder from LaidBacksdottir - 'why is that man having sex with a bicycle?'
When you can't see the video (at work) comments like "'why is that man having sex with a bicycle?'" don't help temper my curiosity.
I'm going to guess that this is a video of a recumbant where you ride in a superman position (and see where you're going using a mirror). Is that right?
Oh yes...
Oh my...
"Oh yes..."
Did I mention that Flickr is a no-no too. :-(
This better cb?
picture hosting courtesy of my friends over at bit tech.
Thanks Steveo, I can see that one!
Pretty sure I've seen that video before somewhere, can't remember where it was linked from though. Citycycling?
*hurp*
oh god, I think I threw up in my mouth a little...

Certainly was. Citycycling once again ahead of the curve.... ;)
Aye, Bike Snob NYC, is evidently a Citycycling reader ;-)
oh god, I think I threw up in my mouth a little...
Just as well they didn't post the tandem version
That's got a parental guidance 18 warning ;-)
News from Shetland -
"Saw recumby thingy trike causing Shetland's first traffic jam in a decade yesterday"
That will be from your Shetlandic contact T?
Actually someone has warned me about recumbent trikes being a nuisance to drivers...
Let's ban trikes first and move on to the bikes later!*
* except prone bikes of course - as long as they have a white reflector on the front and a bell.
"Just as well they didn't post the tandem version"
@ Laidback - I can imagine the person to the rear never quite being heard when shouting which direction they wanted to go, being somewhat muffled
Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase ATM...
re: the traffic jams. Will be interesting to see how practical Leith Walk is once redone, as there's not going to be much spare space (one lane for all traffic, small cycle lane next to the parked cars).
If I wanted to be bloody minded I'd start commuting with a trailer, that would really cause some delays!
If I wanted to be really bloody-minded I'd start commuting by car, and be really really kind to every cyclist by not overtaking until there was lots of space and then giving tons of room!
Well I have just managed to drag myself out of bed today
(I've got flu-all sympathy gratefully accepted) after
what seems like a few weeks and as I emerged blinking
into the daylight I thought that what I (and the world)
really need to see is a video of a man frotting a bicycle.
So I'm bumping this thread.
Ha!
Thought you'd been quiet...
At least the flu will keep your mind off any other 'bike related' aches and pains...
I did want to point out that 'recumbent' is spelt with an 'e'. But pedantic recumbent riders are even more annoying than those that ride their bicycles head first ;-)
Hope you get well soon!
@Min - ha ha, frotting, great use of a great word. Not seen that in ages.
@Laidback - I dunno I tend to ride mine hands first, my head only meets pedal when a van or bus (or soon a tram?) has tried to kill me...
LaidBack: "Just as well they didn't post the tandem version"
Ha! But he could take several passengers - imagine he had a couple of kids. They could just sit on dad's back - cool.
Hope your feeling better Min.
Hmm getting there but still pretty rough, thanks Kim and LB.
"great use of a great word. Not seen that in ages."
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to use it in polite conversation sometime in the next week. ;-)
Sore back in 3..2..1.. almost straightaway!
Sorry to hear you were poorly Min, wanting to watch a man frotting a bicycle is probably a sign you are on the mend(!)
But pedantic recumbent riders are even more annoying than those that ride their bicycles head first ;-)
Did you mean "...than those who ride..." perchance? :-p
I think I first saw the Cool Breeze Prone Low-Profile bike back in 1997 in Encycleopedia 4. As for pedantry, it is, by its very nature, a procumbent bike; recumbent would imply riding it while lying on one's back. Confusingly, Damjan Zabovnik's Evie creation is a recumbent rather than a procumbent, because although he rides lying down and head first, he isn't riding it face down. :-)
"Sorry to hear you were poorly Min, wanting to watch a man frotting a bicycle is probably a sign you are on the mend(!) "
Eeeeew, I didn't WANT to I was just being fractious. :-p
That said, it is both hilarious and repulsive at the same time. I found that I wanted to look away but couldn't. Hope I never see one in real life!
'I wanted to look away but couldn't.'
Some people say that about 'real' recumbent bikes and large people on Bromptons;-0
'Ha! But he could take several passengers - imagine he had a couple of kids. They could just sit on dad's back'
Like it.. but lying prone may keep additions to his family down? Is it good ergonomically for one's 'equipment'?
Could increase the circulation? Or decrease it..
(Why am I still here? Shudder.)
humm, some good shots there... I wonder if it really is any faster than a 'bent?
