Two-wheel version of Riding of the Marches proposed.

May or may not complement this idea.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.

Please no, it's bad enough when you have to avoid one of the do-gooders avoiding the red lights.

Yay! They used my quotes! (even if it does read more I was commenting on behalf of PoP (which I'm not involved with any more) than for citycycling (really must try and get the url in next time).
Can always rely on Artemis for the pithy truth.
And just look at Sir Chris' superb ankle-knee-hip alignment.
"Two-wheel version of Riding of the Marches proposed."
Or, how about, "another version of Sky Ride proposed"; the piece is even illustrated with a Sky Ride pick.
Will man-on-the-street not think, "didn't we just have one of those" (assuming that MOTS was ever aware of the Sky Ride taking place)?
@cb
The intention is that it will be an annual event, and be in the city centre. The SKYRide isn't, as far as I'm aware, guaranteed to be an annual event (and it would be starting next year, so 'just had one of these' shouldn't enter the equation).
Not beholden to corporate sponsorship either if that's something that gets people worked up (personally I'm not that bothered, I'd have just refused the tabard).
Anth - just e-mail the journo and ask him to replace from "city cycling" with from "citycycling.co.uk". He probably won't link but at least the URL will be there for people to CP and type in. Just tell him it's the brand name...

10.2 By Councillor Edie – Edinburgh Common Riding Event for Bicycles
“Council notes the success of the re-established Edinburgh Common Riding which has become a highly popular community event since its resurrection.
Council also notes that in 2001 during the foot and mouth outbreak the town of Melrose established a common riding by bicycle, which has now become a highly popular annual event, in addition to their own traditional Common Riding, with 542 participants this year, ranging from 8 months to over 80 years old.
Council agrees to a report back to the Transport, Infrastructure and Environment Committee following discussion with the Cycling Forum on the feasibility of Edinburgh having an additional common riding event for bicycles possibly as part of the Bike Festival along the lines of that pioneered by Melrose.”
