Another gem on R4's Today programme this morning - the guy explaining that Westminster limos were introduced exactly to avoid contact between ministers and plebs.

He also referred to 'bicyclism' unless I was hallucinating.

IIRC he didn't just call it "bicyclism" but something along the liens of "Cameronian bicyclism", laying bare fundamental ideological splits in the Conservative party.

The same chap also said something along the lines of "You wouldn't catch the likes of Eric Pickles on a bike for that very reason", to which I thought "yes, it shows" and then "the inference to be taken from that is that without his ministerial limo cocoon, Pickles would be constantly calling all and sundry plebs and such and such...", which is also a credible scenario.

    Eric Pickles on a bike.

It might start out upright, but it would finish recumbent.

To be fair its always anoying when some pleb from the council expects you to dismount -) , like when cycling on the edinburgh park cycle lane to to Roseburn.

They need some sort of cycle lane for downstreet to avoid complications -).

The Scottish government Victoria Quay has a cycle lane I use it for going to ocean terminal from the shore.

This whole Andrew Mitchell thing is ridiculously trivial and one of the policemen involved said it had been ramped up by the Police Federation. It should have been settled by an apology or two. The policeman called it a "nonsense incident".

Perhaps take that up with the party which was suing (maliciously) for libel?

Or, to put it another way, if it could have been solved by an apology it would have been. Mitchell's arrogance saw otherwise.
