Does anyone know if there is cycle parking at Caledonia House? Silly question maybe but I don't want to be left out on Thursday.

    Is anyone else going?

I called and spoke to the receptionist. I was told that it is at Sport Scotland, on the left as you approach into the estate from Redheughs Avenue. Cycle parking is behind the building, follow the one way signs clockwise.

Search Google maps for 'Caledonia House Edinburgh', and the marker marks the entrance. I found that the building opposite is also called Caledonia House, very confussing so called to double check.

In recent years Cycling in the UK has enjoyed considerable international success, especially on road and track, which has helped to attract significant investment into the sport from SkyTV, other commercial partners and public funding through UK Sport and home country sports councils. Cycling in Scotland has grown and Scottish athletes have enjoyed notable success, especially when representing GB at Olympic Games. However growth rates lag behind those in England. The sport in Scotland does not currently have the resources to exploit the opportunity afforded by the popularity of the sport.

Inevitably this is about the sport of cycling, but increasingly it's not just a case of people using bikes for 'sport' or 'transport'.

Various people with a firm interest in racing (notably Chris Boardman) have been talking about road conditions recently.

They are keen that more people cycle - even if few will ever take part in the 'sport' - except as spectators.

I hope that Scottish Cycling will take a great interest in 'general' cycling, fitness and ActiveTravel too.

It was a discussion group lead by members of the conveining council of Scottish Cycling. Members were asked to attend so they could be consulted on what they thought aboit Scottish Cycling and how it should be working and improving in the future. I felt a bit of an imposter as I'm not a member but that didn't put them off and I took part in all discussions.

Jane Barr was there too as she now works at Scottish Cycling.
