    Sunday's weather looks really good!

Any fellow forumers fancy a 10 mile organised ride round Edinburgh? Starting and finishing at the Bike Station, we go down Nicolson Street to Princes Steeet, down Leith Walk, round to Roseburn taking in all the off road we can and then up past Bruntsfield.

This is one of the co sponsored CEC/Sky Local Rides, so all ages welcome, and a free hi viz vest for all.

Yeah, it's Sky, but it is beginning to work, and it's good for kids. Honest.

"Yeah, it's Sky, but it is beginning to work"

I think various people have reservations about "Sky".

I think the Edinburgh version of the big ride was highly questionable because of the route around Arthur's Seat - but I suspect that was more to do with the Council...

Without Sky Cav and Wiggo and Hoy might almost be unknown - or at least yes high profile.

I know there are those who are very dubious about 'sport' having a beneficial effect on 'ordinary' cycling, but I think they are wrong.

'Cycling' isn't like (for instance) tennis. You can only play tennis with a racquet - a bicycle can be used for almost anything! Being able to ride one opens up endless possibilities.

Was going to say we'd come but I see that my five year old would have to be in a seat or trailer. She's been cycling that far for at least a year, and closer to two!

What if you fibbed about her age?

Yeah. May do. But it's the principle! Also have a fair trade bake-off to attend at 11....if I get some baking done tomorrow....still I want more family rides!

Agreed. I got back into cycling through 'sport' (well, watching the TdF and being inspired to buy a road bike). Once I'd cycled out of town a few times it became pretty clear how quickly and efficiently you could get around town on a bike, so I got one for town use.
