In Brightons today I saw what I think I have identified as a Giant Revive. Never seen a bike with a back support like that before. Is there such a thing as a semi-recumbent, (although the cycling position seemed to be a bit too upright to even qualify for that) and has anyone else seen these machines about? The guy said it was very good to ride.

Splitshift, have you seen this chap/bike around as I think this is your area too?

Poco, yes, semi-recumbent is a fairly common term for that style of bike.

More modest geometry as popularised by RANS with the Dynamik, Alterra, Cruz and so on is known as a crank forward design.

Interesting - giant making claims it improves posture and is aimed at people who might not have cycled otherwise. Bit like a Raleigh chopper?

Thanks for the info, Arellcat. The only bikes I have seen in this area have been 'standard' ones so this one made an impact when I saw it outside the local shop. I must try for a trip to Edinburgh so that I can spend a while watching the unusual machines going around.
