So I'm hanging out, doing my ironing, and desperately looking around for some decent podcast to listen to. I wanted either something Scottish or something cycling, and the the light bulb went on over my head.

    Why not both?

So, I'm suggesting that somebody ought to grab a microphone and some mixing software and put together a weekly (or biweekly) podcast focused on cycling news and issues in Edinburgh.

Great idea, right? I'd do it myself except for the whole I'm-in-America thing. So, I'm offering this great and wonderful idea to you guys. For free.

There's the Bike Show podcast from Resonance FM: not Scottish but hey.

Velocast Cycle Club has "cycling commentary, podcasts and reviews" with Scottish commentators - not exactly Edinburgh-centric but . . .

Sounds like a job for Wilmington.

  5. I struggle enough with getting citycycling out!

(have thought about it before, but I think it's probably even more of a time commitment).

I've never been convinced about the merits of podcasting.

Radio yes. iPlayer when I've missed something 'vital' - rare.

I suppose I like pictures with words - so web pages or video (YouTube/Vimeo etc.)

Done a few, so has WC - hard to beat the man on the Pugsley!

Don't want to take contributors (or credit) away from .cityclycling - but perhaps there is an opening for a random/occasional bit of sound/motion compilation/'publishing'.

  8. Been pondering what I enjoy doing with citycycling - the magazine currently being 10 days late hints at the issues I'm having fitting it in at the moment, and the fact that I generally think I'm running out of ideas etc etc etc.

I do enjoy producing videos, and thinking about a possible shift to a monthly video podcast/YouTube thingy (which you can also make real cash-money from more easily... Cynical? Moi?) with occasional rambling written bits. Nothing solid yet, but I need to clear some writing space for a couple of long-running projects after a bit of research-finishing on holiday; and working out a few luvvie contacts I have.

Plus I'm a rampant attention-seeker (which is really a way of dealing with crippling shyness) and a weel-subscribed video blog might catch the attention more from a Bike Show producer or the like.

So feel free to come along for the ride dahlinks!

Sounds like it could be a fun idea. Certainly worth a try at least.

@WC Rouleur do a podcast that is basically Jack Thurston of The Bike Show discussing the latest issue with a couple of contributers. Same sort of thing might be a relatively easy win for you?

Have a word with Goo Mason of Three From Leith, he is a keen cyclist and knows a thing or two about podcasting...

    +1 for velocast

if you like that the spokesmen podcast is fairly good as well - one of the velocast guys pops up on it now and again. it's sort of a collection of folk who do other podcasts (majority are US) and they cover a bit of everything - racing, commuting, kit, etc
