CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 16years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Oh good. That's only taken 8 years.
At this rate I'll be drawing my pension by the time we have a connected, segregated network of cycle paths in this city. My kids will be able to enjoy it once they're in their 30s (should they decide to continue cycling).

Surprise today. Finally the no-cycling signs were taken down, and cycling signs put up on Portobello Prom. The standard issue ones look great, but the consultation driven "code of conduct" ones are of no use. They are completely unreadable and just server to clutter and confuse!
Stiil no signage at the widened shared path at Seafield though.

Only another 7 years to go then...
I suppose technically it's 9.5 years, given that the Land Reform (Scotland) Act was given Royal Assent in February 2003...
So just 8.5 years to go tammytroot.
Wonder if we can get these on all shared mode paths in Edinburgh to replace the dogs that try and bite your wheels and pedestrians giving you the "what are you doing here" look...

I think the Porty Prom ones are 'necessary' given the years of confusion.
Don't know if "pedestrian priority" has any legal basis(?)
I think something on all paths would be overkill.
I know Spokes is working on a leaflet that highlights the 'issues' and will get some publicity and make some cyclists, pedestrians and dog owners think about their responsibilities.
"I think something on all paths would be overkill."
The lamp-posts on the relatively-newly-surfaced Lochend Road-Seafield Street section of path has more shared-use signs than former-railway off-road paths usually have, though the pedestrian on the sign is pictured holding a child rather than not holding a dog.

It's been "dog walkers only" for so long the signs are probably just to announce that, yes, cyclists are allowed on the path, and no, you should not be glowering at them for daring to pass you while you walk six dogs off the lead...
