    Jack reminisces about George

In an interview to be shown on BBC Alba on Monday at 10pm, Jack McConnell speaks about his time as First Minister. During the interview he refers to the accident George Bush had on his mountain bike in Gleneagles:

Jack: "That night I asked him, 'How did the mountain biking go?'
George: 'I'm all bandaged up', and he showed me his back and he had a big red mark. I said, 'What's happened?' and he said, 'We were up in the hills, me with two of my security men, three of us on bikes coming down the hill at great speed and we turned a corner and this policeman was standing in the middle of the path and I've gone right into him, over the top of my handlebars and he got knocked out and he's in hospital in Perth'.
Jack: "So I said, 'Mr President, I've had two days of 2,000 anarchists in Edinburgh trying to knock out a Scottish policeman and they never managed it, and you were here for two hours and you did it'.

    Let's not go there...

I remember this at the time. Edinburgh came to a standstill.

Not sure if GWB is 'blaming the policeman for being in the way'...

policeman securing the road so the "leader of the free world" can take two security guards (I wonder how comfy it would be cycling in a bullet proof vet carrying several kilos of gun) on a jaunt without getting run over by an al-qaeda driven fish and chip van (under cover in Scotland), mind you they would be able to bribe the polis with a haggis supper...

"(I wonder how comfy it would be cycling in a bullet proof vet carrying several kilos of gun)"

Vests rather depend on the type, as with all things, the more you spend... but guns, a nice little Glock, couple of magazines...no weight to speak of and very compact* ;-) could make calming down the road-ragers much quicker and simpler :-o I'll volunteer to test!

Erm.. move along now, nothing to see here and for a really good acronym damhikijkok !!

*next time the president is on telly try to spot which guards are armed and which are not, I bet you will be guessing!
