Bad flooding through Polwarth especially at intersection with Harrison Road and Ashley terrace - watch out for the puddles and - more - the cars doing silly things to avoid them. The flooding by the scotmid is not as bad as on Sunday when cars were all using wrong side of road (which has a median strip!).

Flooding in Polwarth subsided, but there is a lot of water running off Holyrood at Duke's walk, into and including the roundabout, both sides of the road when I went through initially, seemed less bad when I returned.

The "flood prevention" works at Stockbridge were all flooded out again yesterday, assume water had been much higher as the workmen were again having to pump out all the water that had got around the wrong side of the under-construction barrier at the colonies. On the other side of the old Railway Bridge, outside the Lady Haig Poppy Factory, the newly narrowed river had risen up completely over the road level.

Yesterday the opticube light on my helmet got so wet it stopped working. I presumed the batteries had worn out, but opened it up, noticed the damp and took them out to dry. When popped back in, it was fine (well, dim, but working).

I had problems with my Smart 1/4W rear blinky. I used to open it to dry it out before replacing the batteries. I was doing this one day a couple of weeks ago when I noticed that the large brightest top LED wasn't covered, and that the cover has a hole for the LED tip to protrude through. I placed some selotape over it and have had no problems since.

My NiteRider, which didn't initially seem to be affected by last weekend's canal misadventure, is now playing up. Le sigh.

Had to make the commute three times after another key-forgetting incident. It's the waterproof trousers; they break up my usual routine and I sail out the house on autopilot. Luckily sister was working from home today so I got back in without fuss.

There is a persistent flood problem with the cyclepath from st mary's loch to the parliment, it doesnt take a lot of rain either.

    Good customer service!

Perhaps a little...too good. Guilty conscience perhaps? NV goggles? Stoat costume? Lying in wait on the towpath? Badger dungeon in the basement of TBC?

    It's all making sense now.

  11. Have to say, I'm worried by Uberuce's presence on a thread entitled 'flooding' - surely he should not be let anywhere near any open, or closed for that matter, water for a wee while yet?

On the plus side, there could be a weird 'coincidences' tale to be told by him riding through the Holyrood Park flood and spotting something glinting in the water, only for it to be his glasses. Do do de do, do do de do...

  12. TBC, I bought a very expensive bike from you and... erm... it's broken. So broken in fact I can't take it back to you. I presume you'll just replace?

p.s. foul foul temptress with that orangey frame of glory post the other day. Thankfully I'm skint just now, though would make a lovely mountain climb bike that's planned next year.
