According to the list that's 2 racks at Sainsbury's, 3 racks at Pizza Hut and 2 at Mimi's Bakehouse.

Cycle parking in Edinburgh, where have we got to?

@acsimpson: I'm not sure how the map has been generated as that location isn't totally accurate - might be getting done by post code? The full list shows these racks will be on Station Road (to make HankChief's cake stops easier), outside Sainsbury's and at the row of shops at Manse Road.
It's probably a similar story in other locations.

acsimpson, you might be surprised at totally untapped residential demand. 6 sheffields were installed on the corner of Hillside St when the flagstones were renewed this year and they've been well used since - mostly at night which to me suggests residential use.

Yes, sorry. Map was generated manually, with less than 100% precision at times.

Wasn't taken as such - I meant to mention when I posted it that some of the locations were very rough. Made it mainly for my own interest, thought other people might find it interesting too.
And thanks again for the bike rack; survived the trip to Melrose and back at the weekend!

Ah that makes a lot more sense. Some racks at Sainsburys will be good. There's nowhere convenient to lock up there just now.
I imagine there would be more demand for racks in a tenement area, although perhaps Stickman was considering expanding his stable.
I can't access the google drives document at the moment if that's the one but will try again later.

Lots in the city centre, not many anywhere else.
The lists have been compiled virtually exclusively by 'us' emailing activetravel@edinburgh.gov.uk requesting some racks, so let Allan know if there's places outside of the centre you think need them :)

Looks like Edinburgh Art College could do with some more bike racks.
West Port / Ladly Lawson Street. Steep slope here hence need for steps and a hand rail.

I've been pleased to note that new bike hoops have appeared on the southern side of Montrose Terrace and also on Cadzow Place - though perplexingly, nothing outside Eastside Bikes! I think the response from the active travel team was concerns about impact on people with visual impairment: old folks' sheltered housing is right next to Eastside Bikes...
Re: Edinburgh College of Art, there are loads of Sheffield stands in the main courtyard behind Evolution House (in the picture). Entrance is off Lady Lawson Street. Maybe these particular rider didn't know about those racks, or couldn't be bothered walking round the corner?

Talking of bike shops, always thought it was crazy that there's none outside Evans on Fountainbridge. Massive wide pavement with loads of space for racks. Have to cross a busy road to find anywhere to lock up.

There are several more of those racks on Port Hamilton, the turning just off Gardner's Crescent.

I would think evans customers would typically arrive by car/taxi/bus I bought my first bike there think evans aims more at the buy a bike to keep in shed buyer. It came with a free service, so I asked if could book the service when passing the shop a few months after I bought my bicycle they advised I need to book service on line. The staff are more like car salesman all about pushing bikes out the door and commission you get the impression after sales or service is just an inconvenience of selling bikes like car dealers.

Possibly a bit late, but I took a wander through the Royal Ed and noted some of the bike parking.
Biggest chunk I saw was outside Kennedy Tower (big white tower by the Morningside Terrace entrance). There is capacity for 50 bikes there; a few of the Sheffield stands were jumbo size and I wondered if they might actually be intended for motorbikes but there didn't seem to be any obvious signage.
Also saw:
3 stands outside the Young Peoples Unit (building by the 'lighthouse statue roundabout')
3 stands by the door north door of the Jardine Clinic
8 tightly-packed racks in a shed just to the east of the Jardine ClinicOSM updated.
Also added the new location of the Royal Edinburgh Community Gardens.

New bike racks at the Royal Commonwealth Pool - on the left of the entrance, under the roof, where the old racks were years ago.
Also new racks at Saughton track/sports complex.

Good news, and thanks to the council officers/workers who have organised and implemented.
I don't want to be the person who always has to moan about an aspect of a good news story, but was there really only room for two racks on the High Street?
