Mrs Crowriver came off the bike this afternoon. She was returning from a swim, cycling on her wee folder along McDonald Road. Lights turned amber as she was crossing Leith Walk, a car turned right across her path and she crashed into its rear door.

Apparently she was shepherded into Mark Lazarowicz's office and looked after until she felt able to continue. A passerby straightened her handlebars out, another commented that she'd left quite a dent in the car door. Driver was an elderly gent, probably didn't see her, checked if she was okay, then said he was going to his daughter's wedding (!) and couldn't stop.

She did manage to cycle back home, though in a bit of pain.
A few bruises, sprain/possible fracture in right wrist. Ibuprofen duly dispensed. I'm going to see how she gets on and if no improvement in the wrist will pack her off to the Western General this evening.

Not nice but could have been a lot worse. I've had a few near misses at that junction myself, again with cars turning across me.

Hope Mrs crowriver is feeling alright - as has been pointed out on many threads passim, best to get checked over just to make absolutely sure.

Crowriver, hope she is ok - these things really make my blood boil.

So lets change that to 'elderly gent knocks over pedestrian at crossing'

Would he really be getting away with the 'its my daughters wedding/grannies funeral/wives having a baby' excuses????

I think not, and if he bu**ered off in those circumstances there would - rightly - be people holding him until the police arrived.

....however its an 'accident' involving a bike - so thats ok?

Pass wrist under a pre-heated medium X-Ray, mahuh.

Hi folks, thanks for all the commiserations, etc. I wasn't there (at home tending to wee daughter) or I would have got his details, you can be sure of that.

She is feeling a bit better, still sore. I will pack her off to the Western General tomorrow morning for a check.

@SRD, junior crowriver says hi back to junior SRD.

I am relieved to report that she is fine: x-ray revealed no fractures. Just a bit of a sprained wrist and some bruises.

Bike seems to be fine too.

Too late now, but that should have been two separate posts if MrsC reads this forum.

Maybe you could bribe chdot into deleting the post to save any further complications.

    Just sayin' . . .
