  1. Just a placeholder at the moment. Sunday 18th November - fledgling idea for a ride to 3, maybe 4, wildlife spots in and around the city (hoping we might have Waxwings arriving by then... Also hoping to contact SWT to see what chance there is of a wee group getting to spend an hour in the Bawsinch (Duddingston Loch) hide, where there are chances to see otters and various wintering wildfowl). Spending an hour or so at each, taking up all the available hours of daylight. Flasks of coffee recommended, but indoor coffee stops will also be factored in.

The venues will be determined so as to get something different in each, and probably only about 30 miles, so as to allow for the aforementioned coffee-stops and proper time with the beasties.

    Brilliant idea.
I would so like to come along but unfortunately I am away on business that weekend :(

@WC - I suspect it's the wrong time of year for a fledgling ride...

None-the-less I'd have joined you, but have other commitments on Sundays.

    Enjoy!

There is a good hide above BAlerno will accommodate 8 adults. Does involve a bit of a climb. Waxwings alight in the trees in the estate on the way up. previous pintail, golden eye etc all on the water. Treecreeper, finches, tits, woodpecker on the bird table and surrounding trees. Just a suggstion. might push the mileage up a bit, run out of daylight etc.
