    TRANSPORT chiefs are hiring a new officer to promote walking and cycling in Edinburgh.

    The Active Travel Officer will be responsible for managing the Street Design Guidance and supportng the Edinburgh City Council Active Travel Plan.

    Candidates must be skilled in traffic management design and be keen to “promote walking”. The role carries a salary of up to £32,400, is based at Waverley Court and candidates must hold a degree in a related subject.

    * to make proposals for how these ATAP Corridors and Areas should provide inputs for investment in pedestrian priority and for maintenance of footways, footpaths, cycle lanes and cycle tracks
    * To prepare maps and proposals for the Winter Maintenance of footways and cycle ways
    * To prepare maps and proposals for the ATAP Dropped Kerb programme
