“Park” means any land provided, owned, leased, occupied or managed by the Council within
    the City of Edinburgh and used as a recreation ground, public playground, public open space, public walk, walkway, woodland, ornamental or pleasure ground or gardens and all buildings and works connected therewith;

    The following acts are prohibited:
4.1 Behaviour which causes (or in the opinion
of a Council Official is likely to cause)
annoyance, offence, alarm or distress to
    any other park user.

    Cycling
    The following acts are
    prohibited:
7.1 Cycling in a manner which falls
short of the responsibilties in the
    Code.
7.2 Cycling off the paths in woodland
    and other areas sensitive to
    environmental damage.

Hmm. Given that many non-cyclists (especially dog walkers) seem to find cyclists annoying, offensive, alarming or distressing then we may as well not bother cycling in parks!

On the other hand look at all the rules for dog owners: good luck enforcing them!

By "code" I think it means the Outdoor Access Code.

"other areas sensitive to environmental damage."

This is a wonderfully vague phrase.

The apparent prohibition of commercial photography 'without limitation' alarms me, and doesn't seem consistent with communications I've had from CEC. Hopefully they mean people doing wedding shoots, etc, without prior permission, and not a blanket ban.

    Sorry... a bit o/t...

  7. Odd isn't it. I could take a photo of a bird in the parks and then sell it. Except it would appear I couldn't sell that photo. Difficult to police?

IMK, it says you need to ask permission first, its not prohibited.

Nothing in the document thats alarming, TBH - all pretty sensible.

e.g. There are plenty who dont bother about the BBQ spots in the meadows, with a consequent scorching of the grass.
