Actress Maxine Peake has written a play to be aired on Radio 4 at 2.15pm on 27 November paying tribute to a racer from an earlier - more innocent? - era.
‘Beryl – a love story on two wheels’ tells the story of champion cyclist Beryl Burton MBE OBE and her husband Charlie, her chauffeur and mechanic.
Charlie rode one of Gerry Boswell's Brevets in July with his daughter Denise and is looking very well indeed.
This will be on iPlayer later I'm sure.
Has been very positive reception on Twitter. Hope to hear it on catchup later.

R4 did a piece on another old school woman cyclist last week, not beryl burton, sorry I should have written it down. Woman did lot of touring, set records then took up different interests, at least I think it wasn't beryl burton
Billie Dovey. I was listening to that piece too; made glossing the woodwork in the bathroom go a lot faster!
