So, as mentioned elsewhere, the sallyhinch of this parish and Cycling Dumfries, will be around on the morning of the 30th, and we are proposing a PY meetup.

Neither of us are committing to be there at 7.30. I am unlikely to be there until 8 at the earliest, and it might be closer to 9, with a plan for starting work a bit late. However, if other people want to start early, then obviously that is fine too!

(for parents with small children, the 'special visitor' ref in thread title should be read as per Jonathan Emmett's "She'll be coming round the mountain"

If there's a late end to this one I should be able to manage it - great. Me and paper bike should make it there by quarter to nine or so.

  5. I'll be there as ever (though as per it'll be till about 8.30 then I'll have to shoot off). If I can sneak any in I may do a test run of a Christmas special macaroon I've got planned for nearer the festivities (given we've got a special visitor n' all - someone nearer the time remind me to bring along my book by a certain S Hinch....)

Well, I have to provide some propulsion... the Brompton wouldn't get there without me (unless Uberuce brought it in the cargo bike).

Recent testing with Min's Dahon shows my Carry Freedom trailer is also perfectly capable of Inception biking.

It was a pleasant surprise just how stable a folder is when tied down - I didn't even need to bust out the heavyduty cargo straps, just bungees and the velcro strips.

I'll be there, unless something odd happens in t'office.

    Bump.

Are pedestrians allowed to attend? ;-) I'm planning on taking Friday off and may be able to clump my way over to PY if I can haul myself out of bed and onto a bus in time.

  15. I'll swing by and give you a backie... ;)

Had forgotten about this - excellent, nice end to a really rather tiresome week.

    "Are pedestrians allowed to attend?"

Well that's one of the attractions of PY it has its own dedicated/segregated pedestrian and cycle lanes.

@ WC Nice offer, but 9 weeks of muscle wastage is unlikely to have made me any lighter - I'll have put on at least as much useless weight as I've lost in useful weight. 80+kgs extra up the Bridges would be a challenge. ;-)

If anyone wants some Chrimbo cards, I'll be there with a box of them that I'm en route to London to flog.

It's normally a pleasant, albiet steeply priced, coffee and baked produce vendor located halfway up Edinburgh's picturesque Middle Meadow Walk, but roughly once a month it undergoes a nightmarish transformation and becomes a festering pit of velocipdal fetishism, as hordes of lycra-swaddled freaks huddle in dank corners and spit in the face of all that is good and internally combusted and true on this Earth.

Sadly I can't make it tomorrow :-( I popped in this morning on the offchance but didn't see any familiar CCE faces. Still, I had a very nice cardamom bun.

Puzzle: it's maybe a bit out of your way but PY is Peter's Yard on Middle Meadow Walk, between Edinburgh University / George Square and Quartermile / old Royal Infirmary. It has CCE morning meet-ups now and then. And cardamom buns. Did I mention the cardamom buns?

In terms of price, I don't imagine PY is any more expensive than the Starbucks next door. However the quality of their bakery means its far better value and more than makes up for the slightly odd (to my taste) Scandinavian coffee blend!

    Oh yes, cards questions.

Set of 6 designs, £11. 5x7 inches, 280gsm linen-finish card. I haven't been able to work out logistics of splitting up the sets yet. Hand folded by me and packed in fetching copy of 1985 Cycling Weekly magazine for that vintage newsprint smell.

Full details and pictures of finished item here - also webshop if you want to pay online (or later, if that suits).

My train is at 12:30 so I can hang around until whenever.

I do admit to being spoiled by Zazou's teensy tariffs, but agree the PY baked stuff is winnity win.
