Aberdeen Cyclist Dies after Collision with Tractor
Sad news. My thoughts are with their family and loved ones.
Prompted me to phone my brother. His kicking out time and his route (although turns out it's slightly further west than his usual, and he tends to avoid Anderson Drive anyway).
Thoughts with the family - even 5 minutes worry not being able to get hold of him wasn't pleasant.
"looks a busy road? "
Always extremely busy in my experience. It's the main through route for traffic heading north. Having driven it on numerous occasions I can see why WC's brother tends to avoid it.
Horrible news.
Poor guy. They are now saying it was a lorry.
Put it this way, when I'm driving to Ellon, north of Aberdeen, I take the coast route rather than Anderson Drive. It's just a pain, always has been, and in the words of my brother is treated like a 'race track' (it's pretty straight, and wide, just peppered with roundabouts whihch are to be whizzed between).
I've ridden it a couple of times (about 14 years ago when living in Aberdeen) and it's not for the faint-, mid-, or stronghearted...
