It is a bridge, why use crossing??

Subliminally plants the symbolism of the Cross of St Andrew (the Saltire) in the mind of the reader?

Who knows? Who cares? Scot Gov is spending *way* too much time, energy and PR puffery on this project.

Ahh so in 5 years when it turns into a trams fiasco they can turn it into a fording point and keep the same name.

As the first commenter puts it regarding wee Eck: "Has he not got anything better to be doing with his time than announce the winners of competitions and watch cartoons?"

Pelican crossing. Toucan crossing. Puffin crossing.

    I see a theme developing.

    Albatross crossing?

  9. Well given the current crossing's wires appear to be improving that could be renamed the Phoenix Crossing...

We should commission a massive bronze statue of Keith Brown to be built in the Forth alongside the bridge. We can call it the "Colossus of Roads"*

    * with apologies to Mr. Telford.

I think we should call this show of Scottish* engineering prowess the Peacock Bridge.

    PEdestrians And Cyclists Omitted Constru[K]tion.

    * other nationalities are more likely.

Hmm, here's a thought: Big Country recorded a track called The Seer, on their classic album... The Crossing.

Perhaps the late Stuart Adamson was a prophet?
