I clicked on a link today after a tweet by someone, and was struck by how many cycle paths 'that other place' has in comparison to the UK:

    http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=53.1&layers=C&lon=6.6&zoom=9

If it doesn't zoom right or centre right, pan/zoom until the Nederlands and the UK are showing. Compare how dense the blue lines (cycle paths) are with that in the UK. Just shows how far behind we are, despite the maniplated statistics politicions come out with.

mmm... I'm not exactly sure what the map key is, but I had a look at some part of Belgium that I know, and all of these "paths" seem to be perfectly normal streets! Maybe they are the equivalent of "quieter streets suitable for cycling"? Also, there is a huge difference between Flanders and Wallonia in Belgium, and although I'm 100% sure Flanders is more cycle-friendly, it looks rather as the local authorities have a different classification system for these so-called paths.
