"The BIG Lottery Fund has announced the launch of its new Community Wildlife Fund and it is available throughout the UK. Through the fund not for profit groups, local councils, schools and health bodys can apply for funding of between £300 and £10,000 for projects that will bring together local people to discover, enjoy or protect wildlife in their local area by improving rural or urban environments for people to enjoy, and by getting people more active and healthier."

I wonder if we could apply to do something that the trams would have to destroy down the Roseburn corridor... ;-)

"something that the trams would have to destroy down the Roseburn corridor"
Don't worry it's unlikely to happen.
Though paradoxically the current probability that the line will only get as far as Haymarket (or perhaps the east end of Princes Street) increases the 'logic' of a line from Haymarket to The Waterfront/Ocean Terminal.
However assuming the Council's plans for massively increasing the number of journeys by bike work, there would be more than just 'a few' objectors.
Is your idea a reference to the Bingham Mermaid?
