Today is the last day to send your feedback in for the leith walk consultation.

    Ah yes.

    Thought it was tomorrow.

Part of what I said -

As I have implied in my previous answers, the proposals are disappointing, inadequate, underfunded and essentially premature.

Leith Walk is a 'racetrack'. It should be a Boulevard.

It is unfortunate that the uncertainty of the tram will continue for some years to come.

It seems likely that the road surface will need renewing (at least in places) before then, so the 'threat' of the tram shouldn't be used as an excuse for not trying to implement significant improvements.

The people of Leith (and the rest of Edinburgh, and visitors to the city) deserve a lot better.

Many European and American cities are making significant efforts to take more road space away from motor vehicles.

In spite of a range of policies that talk about improving things for pedestrians and cyclists, Edinburgh's actions are pathetically inadequate.

The Council shouldn't squander this opportunity. Now is not the time to take significant decisions based on outdated assumptions and conventions.

Fix the tram-related infrastructure, resurface the street and plan for a self-enforcing 20mph zone in a couple of year's time.
