    Ouch...

I'm assuming at least a few of you received a bunch of Cycling Scotland emails this afternoon? Can't see the full distribution as I'm on the tablet and got bored scrolling, but they've just sent their New Year update to a sizeable mailing list, and put all the email addresses in the 'to' field. So every address is visible to everyone.

I'm not greatly reassured by the followup email assuring everyone that data protection was a priority. If that was the case, it wouldn't have been possible in the first place.

Excellent way to make a body lobbying professional organisations on 'our' behalf look rather amateur.

Mistakes happen, My email address is certainly in the public domain. I let my spam filter take care of stuff I might not want to see.

I received the apology email from Big Matt, lovely guy, but I didn't receive any of the others, the spam fritters / filters got em I guess

Like gembo I received the apology but not the original e-mails. They didn't get filtered as junk, as far as I know.

I didn't get the initial emails either. Perhaps they successfully recalled the originals.

It's a pretty epic cc field.

I got the apology first, then the original, then the futile recall. This is after I asked to be removed from their dist list after the workplace poster-spam episode.

I'm clearly grumpier than some of you when it comes to my personal information :p

Was my workplace email. They had it from when they helped us become a cycle friendly employer. Is out in the public domain. Would possibly be grumpier if my personal e-mail

I don't appear to have had the problem email, but I did get some stuff about being a cycle friendly employer - with nothing in the title field. I nearly binned it unopened, and I did bin it once I realised what it was.

I'm sure you can get software to help you send out emails to groups - I think the mountaineering club I'm in uses something to do this.

MailChimp is very good for that.

I think that's what the club uses. I don't know any more than that about it.
