Hmm, Met Office getting pessimistic out west as well...
Headline:
Cloudy, snow flurries, more persistent snow in places on Monday. This Evening and Tonight:
Cloudy with a few light snow flurries this evening and for much of the night. The snow will become more persistent later in the night especially in Lanarkshire. Strengthening easterly winds, drifting on high ground. Minimum Temperature -2 °C.Monday:
Cloudy and cold with outbreaks of snow, giving mostly slight accumulations but locally moderate falls across higher ground in Lanarkshire, with drifting. A strong and biting easterly wind developing. Maximum Temperature 2 °C.Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:
Outbreaks of snow clearing away northwards Tuesday morning and winds ease later. Then brighter with some sunny spells Wednesday and Thursday, but staying cold with still the odd snow flurry.Posted 12 years ago # -
Just back from Midlothian on the tandem with No.1 son. Quite a bit colder up in the hills there, a fair bit of snow around too. Noticeably warmer air temperatures once we passed Liberton Brae on the way back into Edinbrgh.

Amir, I live by the sea, so snow is not very oftern.

“Very strong easterly winds mean that along the east coast much of the snow will turn into sleet, so there will probably not be a huge accumulation of snow, even in Edinburgh City Centre. However, that will change the further inland you go.”"

Heavy snow in Eskbank. Going in by bus in case I need to walk home.

Town centre still completely snow free for what it's worth.

Excellent opportunity to practice my ninja look, as I covered all exposed flesh from the sleetyslushywindysnowyrainyhail.

Starting to fall out at the Gyle. Only nine bikes in the rack this morning.
Posted 12 years ago # -
NE Path totally clear all the way from Roseburn to Leith, but Pinkhill path still has a bit of compacted snow. Not very icy and passable with care.

I cannae feel ma feet!

Wet, sleety snow got heavier as I got a wind-assisted ride into the Gyle, but it's stopped now and didn't really lie. Major difficulties was attempting to access the Broomhouse Path, which took me as far as Saughton House to achieve. Another award in inconsiderate stupidity to the trams.

Fine nice wind free sunny and warm bright ride in this morning.... NOT
Headwinds [check], Snow/sleat in the face [check], gusts on the bridge trying to blow me over [check]
At least it wasn't settling and only white and icey/frosty in a few muddy sections.

Canal path this morning was compressed snow all the way, but fortunately very little ice. Knobblies sufficient, fortunately, since I hadn't had time to put the spikies back on after yesterday's offroad MTB malarky. It only looked like a dozen or so bikes had braved it.

This is what I call sleet - and not particularly heavy either.

EH1 currently just blowy whisps of snow. Has been like this most of the morning. Not settling on roads or roofs.

Light snow coming down for most of the morning in the city centre.
Hoping the wind direction stays the same for my ride home!! Far easier to have snow/sleet blowing at your back than in your face (which is what I had this morning).

EH12 9XX sleeting and snowing steadily all morning, visibility down to about a mile, Corstorphine hill partially obscured. Not lying on roads or roofs either.

@DaveC - sorry just realised I posted exactly the same comment. Must wake up before posting!

I got a wind-assisted ride into the Gyle
I was mainly wind-assisted this morning too. Judging by the breeze right now it's not going to be a particularly fun ride home, though I shall at least have the opportunity to conduct a well-controlled experiment into merino baselayer efficacy.

The wind picked up this morning so I had an out-of-saddle grimp almost all the way home from the Gyle.
Clothing choice was poor; cotton trousers in rolled-leg configuration, cotton T-shirt as base layer with lycra top and armwarmers, thence windproof. Head was sporting buff, helmet and natural chin-foliage, although as steveo noted, less of it than usual.
Luckily, due to aforementioned battle with wind, I was cosy and didn't have long enough to boil in bag.

I am hoping to be wind assisted on the way home, but if not (i.e. no wind - I won't mind as over the bridge I was cycling at 80 degrees for most of the way. Fortunately it was not so gusty.
Thicker snow (for past 10 mins) now with constant wind from East. Ah snow lightening off now.

Just been up to Threipmuir and along to Harlaw Reservoir. Amazingly the road up was completely clear! A lot of gritting must've been done. Vis not great off road but the snow isn't that deep. Hooray for Ice Spikers anyway!!!

I rode the spiky tyred bike today, thinking we were going to be knee-deep in drifts by hometime, but so far the roads look fine.

Wet snow/sleet falling fairly constantly here in Perth, nothing to trouble the roads. I decided to work from home today because the forecast was that bad but I'll be heading to the office on the trike tomorrow if it doesn't get any worse than this.
