Hmmm, I'm not sure if I've just never noticed them before or if they're actually new signs, but I noticed a number of caution cyclists signs (red triangle with bike in the middle) around the London Street roundabout. There are also a number of rectangular blue ones with a bike in the middle...I must admit to ignorance of what that actually means - can anyone shed any light on their meaning?

I'm assuming the triangular ones are to warn of presence of bikes, not to warn bikes off!

The blue ones would normally indicate a lane of some sort I think, there would normally be a line on them to indicate where the bike lane was relative to position of traffic.

From https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/traffic-signs-manual - DfT Traffic Signs Manual, chapter 4:

    Bicycle in a red triangle

22.1 Diagram 950 may be used to warn traffic of a place where a cycle route crosses or joins a road and is not controlled by traffic signals. Where cyclists emerge only from the left, the symbol should be reversed. If cycles cross the road, a plate to diagram 950.1, varied to “Cycles crossing” may be used; a distance and if appropriate an arrow may be added (i.e. if the cycle crossing is in a side road or another road). Details can be found on the working drawing (see para 1.8).

Where cycles join the road but do not cross it, a distance plate to diagram 572 (or 573 if the cycle route is in a side road) may be used. Where the junction is controlled by traffic signals, no warning sign is normally needed. If visibility of the signals is restricted, the appropriate sign is diagram 543 (see section 8).

From From https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/traffic-signs-manual - DfT Traffic Signs Manual, chapter 3:

Bicycle on a blue rectangular background

17.13 The sign to diagram 967 is used to indicate an advisory with-flow cycle lane. It should be provided at the start of the lane, immediately after the taper, and after each road junction on the same side as the cycle lane, even if the side road is one way leading away from the major road. The sign should also be provided after a junction on the opposite side of the road if vehicles can turn right from it to join the flow of traffic alongside the cycle lane. No two signs should be more than 300 m apart; it might therefore be necessary to provide additional signs between junctions.

Where the lane is provided as a short approach to an advanced stop line, an upright sign is not required; the cycle symbol marking to diagram 1057 within the lane will be sufficient. This is the only occasion where direction 18(1) (item 11 in table 1) permits the marking to diagram 1057 to be used for a cycle facility where there are no upright signs. It is not practicable to provide a sign where the lane is in the centre of the carriageway. Advisory with-flow lanes are available at all times, and a time plate is therefore not used with the sign to diagram 967.
