@Dave, I'm sure you're right. Have committed to the Durano Pluses now though: should be arriving soon. I'll see how I get on. If they feel too leaden I will consider switching to something racier...

Not necessarily a bad choice, if you want to avoid punctures.

Aye, I had a look at that site. I was considering the Michelin Pro4 Endurance but the Durano Plus tyres were available at really good prices so went for them for the time being.

The £20 Michelin Pro 4 Service Course I bought in the spring hasn't worn as well as GP4000S. It also felt slower. Replacing it with a £30 GP4000S (25mm i/o 23mm) using Tesco vouchers at Evans.

Tyre arrived from Evans and though I paid for an OEM version they sent the retail product. Nice.

My Durano Plus arrived yesterday. No pic I'm afraid, but they don't feel as chunky as I had been led to believe. Will fit them to the bike this weekend and maybe take a test ride if the weather isn't too dreadful...

Well the Durano Plus tyres are on the wheels. Not difficult to fit at all (Ambrosio Excelight rims). They seem, to my untrained eye, to be race tyres: almost entirely slick (a token tread pattern on the sides) and quite sticky to the touch. If we get a drier spell over the next few days I'll give them a spin and see how they feel on the road.
