Okay, so I finally got my hands on a smart phone and started using Strava to track my rides/commutes and all has been going well so far - it has mostly identified me as being a relatively slow rider. However my commute this morning along the water of leith seems to have clocked me at the quite frankly bizarre max speed of 41.9mph?! I think this highly improbable given I pootle along that path. Neither me nor Deliah are built for speed and even if we were - I wouldn't dream of doing that on a shared use path.
Has anyone else experienced bizarre measurements from Strava?

Yeah, Strava sometimes has wee GPS hiccups. I've had it on occasion where it departs from the path I took, puts me in the middle of the Forth River, the puts me back on my path a couple of metres in front. It draws this wee spike angle into your route.

When it calculates the distance and this average speed for the ride, the extra distance of the GPS hiccup, increases the average speed because it thinks you've travelled more distance than you actually have in the same time.

Ahhh okay :D it just threw me somewhat lol, I doubt I ever get much above 15mph ever really unless I'm going downhill.

Yes, it does glitch sometimes. Worst I've had was Ormiston to Musselburgh via the South Atlantic. I deleted the errant data point which lost me the whole ride mileage but gave me a load of awards which I couldn't delete.
