I'm not entirely sure it fits in with a Bike Festival event in the way Kim was imagining, but rather the resulting video might be something he's interesting in showing (happy to have it suggested otherwise!). First off, the date - Saturday 18th May is my suggested diary spot.
The challenge:
I like the idea of replacing washing machines with fridges. Still bulky, still heavy.
3 teams of two (each with their own cameraman/woman - additional people mean additional cameras which gives the best 'editing-into-something-entertaining' potential)
One team using cargobike (Bakfiets or 8Freight)
One team using trailer (Uberuce? Dave?)
One team using.... Noomad!!! (for that Top Gear-esque moment where all arrive at the start point one after the other and the other two get to laugh at the Noomad when it arrives...)
Start point - Meadows
End point - Seafield Recycling Centre
Very end point - Espy pub, Porty Prom
Route 1 - Innocent/Porty/Seafield
Route 2 - George IV/Leith/Seafield
Route 3 - Holyrood/Portobello Road/Seafield
And... Erm.... That's it! We need three old fridges, 5 other people who are happy to go in front of the camera (well-known that I'm happy to make an arse of myself) and at least 3 people willing to follow with camera(s).
It's not strictly a race; want plenty of camera material, so ride-by shots and the like. Surely no-one believes the Top Gear 'races' are actual races?
@SRD, anticipating the query on little people being involved! Obviously not in the moving about of an old fridge, but filming from the back of a tandem I could imagine.
